Familiarize yourself with the e-Residency program by visiting the official website of the Estonian e-Residency at https://e-resident.gov.ee/. Learn about the advantages, requirements, and limitations of e-Residency to ensure it aligns with your goals.

Step 2: Submit an Online Application

Access the e-Residency website and click on the "Apply for e-Residency" button. Fill out the online application form with accurate personal details, including your name, contact information, and passport details. Provide a compelling reason for your interest in e-Residency.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

Once you submit the application, you will be directed to pay the e-Residency application fee, which is currently €120/£100. Complete the payment securely using a credit or debit card. Keep a record of the payment confirmation.

Step 4: Application Processing

The Estonian government will review your application. Processing times may vary, but it typically takes a few weeks. You will receive an email notification once your application is processed. During this time, avoid making any travel plans to Estonia.

Step 5: Pick Up Your e-Residency Kit

Upon approval, you will be notified to pick up your e-Residency kit. Visit the Estonian Embassy or a designated pickup location, bringing your passport or valid identification document. Follow any specific instructions provided by the Estonian authorities. In the UK the pick-up location is the Estonian Embassy in London.

As an e-resident, you have the option to establish an EU company in Estonia. Research the necessary steps involved, including company registration, obtaining a virtual office address, opening a bank account, and fulfilling legal requirements. Seek professional advice if needed.

Step 6: Activate Your e-Residency ID Card

Upon receiving your e-Residency kit, carefully follow the instructions provided to activate your e-Residency ID card. Install the required DigiDoc4 software, create a PIN, and verify your identity to activate the card successfully.
